The 4-hour summer season got off to a good start. Hank Lisotto, Wildwood Crest, had a double header of pools this week, with a 5 lb 9 oz. flounder AND a 3 lb 2 oz sea bass. Other pools went to Raymond Leahy, Bridesburg, for a 3 lb. flounder and to Tony Wilde, Edison, who caught a winning 3 lb sea bass and 8 others.
The Atlantic Star made a Golden Tile trip yesterday with BIG results: A state record Snowy Grouper that tipped the scales at 65 lbs., caught by Albert Jackson from Hempstead, NY! There were other big fish caught, as well. Lee Dongwon, Queens NY, also had a hefty Snowy Grouper weighing in at 50 lbs. + 3 Golden Tile to 40 lbs. Whey An, Dix Hills NY, caught a 55 lb. Golden Tile, while Dennis Mullenfork, Hockessin DE, had one at 40 lbs. Sun Park, Palisades Park also mixed it up with a 40 lb. Snowy Grouper and 2 Golden Tile to 40 lbs. An outstanding day!
We had a couple of striper charters this week, with plenty of limits caught to 21 lbs. The blackfishing is better each trip, also producing limits. We’re running for stripers on the Starlight and to the wrecks on the Atlantic Star – 8 hour trips every Saturday and Sunday, leaving at 8 AM. Here are some of this week’s results:
Wreckfishing: Bruce Jackson, Harrisburg, had his limit of blackfish -- and the pool with one at 7 lbs. 2 oz. Tom Grayson, North Cape May, also caught a limit to 6 lbs. 7 oz.
Stripers: Pool winners were Jack Thompson, Philadelphia, with a 21 lb’er; and Mike Mepco, also from Philly, with one at 20 lb. 4 oz. Both had their limits.
The Atlantic Star had a great trip today (Sat., March 20), catching plenty of fish – including cod, blackfish and ling. We’re expecting to do it again tomorrow!
High Hook & Pool Report: A group from Sea Isle City teamed for 15 cod, 12 blackfish and 10 ling. They were Fred Ochs, David Falcone, along with Al, Mike and Jimmy Crudele. Jimmy Crudele had pool honors with a nice 16 lb cod.
We’ll be running 8 hours every Saturday and Sunday – leaving at 8 AM. There will be an additional trip on Good Friday (April 2).
